I discovered Intellectual Property by chance in 2001 during an end-of-studies internship in a telecommunications start-up in France. I had just graduated with a Master’s degree in International Law from the Université de Panthéon-Assas Paris II, after a Master’s degree in Public Law and Political Science from the Université d’Antananarivo – Madagascar. It was a new and exciting world where I learned and then trained staff in data protection procedures, as well as handling files at the European Patent Office… This internship was decisive and on my return to Madagascar, I started looking for a firm that would complete my training in Industrial Property. In 2003, I joined one of the largest law firms in Madagascar, Hanna KEYSERLINGK (now HK-JURIFISC) as a legal consultant and above all, as sole head of the Industrial Property Department. In May 2007, I founded the law office LEX MERCAT which at the time dealt with all aspects of the law: mining, project finance, securities… In 2008, I met all the requirements to obtain my first official accreditation as an Industrial Property Agent and decided to concentrate all my efforts on Industrial Property to the detriment of other areas of legal expertise. In March 2020, in the midst of the COVID pandemic, I took over HK-JURIFISC’s entire Industrial Property portfolio. My short-term projects involve expanding the firm and promoting Industrial Property in the country. But a major project close to my heart would be to find a way of contributing to the social well-being of the local population where the firm is located.
